Canoë Interprétation Inc. is a Canadian company that develops and operates a real-time language interpretation application powered by artificial intelligence. Our solution is primarily designed for public and private institutions, including those in the healthcare, public administration, and event sectors.

2. Information We Collect

When using our application, we collect certain personal information necessary for the operation of the service. This includes your email address, provided during registration or login, technical metadata such as IP address, browser type, and device information, collected via our authentication provider, Clerk, and cookies for session management. We also collect metadata about your usage of the application, such as session start and end times and session duration. This information helps us improve the quality and performance of our service. We do not collect, record, or store any audio content or transcriptions. All audio data is processed live and discarded after the session ends.

3. Purpose of Data Collection

The data we collect is used solely to authenticate users securely, offer a personalized experience based on your language and voice preferences, ensure the platform’s technical stability and performance, and provide technical support when needed. We do not use your data for profiling, marketing, or commercial resale to third parties.

4. Data Processing, Hosting, Access, and Third-Party Services

To deliver our services securely and effectively, Canoë Interprétation Inc. works with trusted third-party service providers. These providers may process limited personal data (such as login credentials or session metadata) strictly for purposes related to user authentication, real-time language processing, and platform hosting. All external providers are contractually obligated to comply with applicable data protection laws and to implement robust security measures. Where data is processed outside of Canada, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place in accordance with Quebec's Law 25 and Canadian privacy legislation. Personal data is never shared for advertising or resale purposes.

7. Data Retention

Canoë Interprétation Inc. does not store any conversation content. Language and voice preferences are stored locally on your device. Session metadata may be temporarily retained for statistical and technical purposes.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including but not limited to: Secure authentication and access control, encrypted communication between users, servers, and service providers, role-based access to internal systems and metadata, use of server-side API calls to avoid client-side exposure of sensitive information.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use local browser storage to save user preferences (selected languages, voice settings, noise reduction level). We may use cookies for authentication and session management via our provider Clerk, and for analytics purposes via Google Analytics (see Analytics section). You can manage cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner and your browser settings.

In accordance with Quebec's Law 25 and applicable Canadian privacy laws, you have the right to access your personal data, request correction or deletion of your data, and obtain clear information about our data handling practices.
